I’m sure there are plenty of you out there who, like me, struggle to find anniversary gifts that are unique yet meaningful to your lasting love and relationship. Traditionally, the 8th wedding anniversary is commemorated by gifts of bronze or pottery. Who knew? The 8th may not get as much attention as 10, 20, or 50, but if you keep reading, you’ll see why maybe it should… Bronze and pottery both have very sweet, traditional symbolism. Bronze sculptures are made with great care and craftsmanship, focusing on precise details resulting in a strength meant to last many lifetimes. Details are kind of important to a long-lasting relationship, don’t you think? Additionally, the finishing touches and patina are critical to protect the bronze and prevent the colors from changing over time. Translation — Your love must be tended to and protected over time, or like anything else, it will fade. Pottery also shares an obvious symbolism in the shaping and molding of a work of art that is meant to last. The modern 8th anniversary gift choice is linens. Borrrring! Even if I didn’t create bronze sculptures, I would still prefer the traditional and unique gift of bronze. Without further ado, here are some of my sculptures that were created with the bronze anniversary gift in mind! Discover extra details on Bronze anniversary gifts.

Tip for getting bronze art valued: Have an authenticity statement. The easiest way to know the value of your piece is by having an authenticity statement from the artist. A certificate of authenticity ensures that the piece was made by the artist, and it goes a long way in determining the new value as the piece ages. If the bronze sculpture is something you have inherited, you can potentially contact the artist to receive more information on the value of the piece.

Bronze statues cleaning: Now you can add wax and polish. One rule — no car wax! Often this will dry white, which looks terrible. It can also contain cleaning agents harmful to bronze. The best wax to use is simple, clear paste wax. Brands such as Trewax (for lighter colored sculptures) or Johnson’s (for darker colored sculptures) will work fine. Apply using a soft rag and give the sculpture a light coating. Let that dry and then apply one more coating. After that, you’re all done! You’ve now learned how to clean outdoor bronze sculptures! See? Not so bad. Stand back and admire your freshly cleaned and re-protected outdoor bronze sculpture.

Meet Laurel Peterson Gregory : I am a classically trained sculptor. As a former repeat Director of the board for the La Scuola Classical Sculpture School, I keep one eye on the masters and the other on the present. My bronze sculptures draw on my love of figurative expression and the freedom of impressionistic interpretation. Not to mention my love of animals. All of my work builds on my ability to observe and capture motion in clean lines.
