The ascent of an American multi-instrumentalist : Jonathan Brightman

The ascent of an American musician : Jonathan Brightman? Downloading and the internet are both a blessing and a curse for musicians. What is your take on the industry as it stands today? Where do you see it heading? Jonathan Brightman: I think the musician will have to catch up with all this technology. In other words, a band may have to use more of their own words, images, actions and give more of themselves up to be noticed. These days anyone can edit a video and put up content. We’re going to have to learn how to be as creative on several formats now. “Badass” is one of the coolest songs I’ve heard in a long time, what are your favourites on the record? Jonathan Brightman: BADDASS is my favourite. It’s just a funny song.

Jonathan Brightman and Buckcherry: Josh Todd grew up in the Anaheim Hills neighborhood of Anaheim, California and later moved to Lake Forest, California. Early on, Todd fronted the Hollywood glam rock band Slamhound. He eventually met lead guitarist Keith Nelson through their tattoo artist (Kevin Quinn). The duo made a few demos before being joined by bassist Jonathan Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn, calling themselves Sparrow. Sparrow began performing around the Hollywood club scene, receiving a strong, local following due to their old school rock and roll vibe, and were signed to DreamWorks Records shortly after. The group changed its name to Buckcherry after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from a record label called Sparrow (owned by EMI). Although the band’s name is a spoonerism of the late Chuck Berry, the group said it was inspired by a drag queen acquaintance of theirs named Buck Cherry.

Black Robot is a California-based hard rock band formed in 2008 by bassist Jonathan Brightman (JB). In December 2010 the band’s self-titled debut album was picked by Apple iTunes as one of the top 15 rock releases for the year alongside notable artists including Tom Petty, Slash, Elvis Costello and Deftones. Additionally, Classic Rock Magazine ranked their song “Baddass” as the #5 Song of the Year and chose it as the opening track of their Best of 2010 CD.

Black Robot is a band you will love, making classic rock’s best of 2010. Here we’ve been playing their cd since we first heard ‘Badass’ back in 2008! Now everyone is picking up on the band and that means we’re all winners! Mark got the chance to catch up with Jonathan ‘JB’ Brightman recently, many thanks to Jenn for setting us up!

Discover additional details on Jonathan Brightman.

How long after the demise of Buckcherry did you begin working on new music? Jonathan “JB” Brightman: The way this happened…right after I left Buckcherry Huck (Johns, singer) was moving to Los Angeles. I had made friends with him and we just started writing. So we had written some songs, but there was no agenda to create a band. What Huck and I really intended to do was to have Yogi (former Buckcherry guitarist) and Devon (former Buckcherry drummer) in the band, but that didn’t really work out. I needed some time away from what would become Black Robot. When it came time, I called Yogi and Devon and said to them, “Let’s just go in the studio for two weeks and let’s make a record.” I didn’t have any expectations. I wanted to get in the studio, record, have a good time and if a great record came out of it then we’d release it. It was no pressure.

VST plugins online shopping by bluetechaudio.com

High quality VST plugins online shopping? Generally speaking, as you’re experimenting, you should record everything you do as you go. You might start a particular process, get some fantastic results and when you return to what you thought you were doing, those results might not sound as good they did at first. So capture every moment, then make sure you get a decent and logical filing system for the results. Don’t just call that deep howling bass you created ‘sample 1’, for example. Maybe try ‘deep howling bass’ instead…

This is especially effective for styles like Drum & Bass, where amazingly impactful and rich-sounding mixes – with just a few elements that really work those high and (especially) low ends. The mid-range leveling can then act primarily as an indicator of a ‘nominal’ base level, made artificially low to enhance the emphasis on the massive bass and cut high-end percussion and distortion. The same works well for rock too: Just listen to Butch Vig’s production on Nirvana’s “Nevermind” for a classic example of scooped mids dynamics. Remember to be subtle: It’s easy to overdo any kind of broad frequency adjustments across a whole mix. If in doubt, leave it for mastering.

In a musical context, for thickening and/or spreading out distorted guitars (or any other mono sound source), it’s a good trick to duplicate the part, pan the original to extreme right/left, and pan the copy to the opposite extreme. You might also delay the copy by between about 10-35ms (every application desires a slightly different amount) by shifting the part back on the DAW timeline or inserting a basic delay plugin on the copy channel with the appropriate delay time dialed in. This tricks the brain into perceiving larger width and space while leaving the center wide open for other instruments. You can also use this technique to pan a mono signal away from the busy center in order to avoid masking from other instruments. At the same time, you don’t want to unbalance the mix by only panning to one side or the other. The answer lies in “Haasing it up” and panning your mono signal both ways. Read more information on virtual instruments.

Our ears mostly detect middle-range sounds more than extreme high and low end frequencies. One still can manipulate the ears nonlinear response to different frequencies and volumes in the mix to help create a sharp impression of command and volume. in every day life we rarely notice the difference, but when mixing and sound designing, this becomes apparent immediately. Given this phenomenon, all sound designers should be able to achieve balance even at low volumes. This will also prevent your ears from experiencing fatigue. Loud volumes are not the best choice as they are not good in creating and accurate balance. When sound designing, it is a good idea to test your sounds out at a reasonable level and on different speakers and headphones. The best mix results are from taking into account the end listener and their environment.

Radio podcast with Mocienne Petit Jackson, author and daughter of Michael Jackson

Mocienne Petit Jackson talks her new book on being the daughter of Michael Jackson? Mocienne Petit Jackson’s (Michael Jackson’s daughter) books are now out in Portuguese! Slowly but surely Mocienne reaches the conclusion that the mafia played and still play a large and destructive role in his (and her) life. It should also be noted that his family, especially his mother and father, is to blame for many things. To date Mocienne has received no cooperation from the Jackson family in order to have a DNA test done so as to conclusively prove that she truly is Michael’s daughter.

At present, Ms Jackson is seeking to make a name for herself as her own individual. Thriller, for example, offers unique insights on her life by including stories concerning unusual and difficult situations that she experienced while living in the Netherlands. She argues extensively, for instance, that the harshness of the Dutch political system has had a significant impact on her character, and that by writing about it she can express a sense of frankness. Ms Jackson also claims that her father had a tendency to exhibit unusual behaviour which she believes may have arisen from the knowledge that he had kept his daughter in secret since the age of seventeen years. Michael Jackson allegedly did not discuss the topic openly because it was difficult and frightening for him to come to terms with.

Ms Jackson believes that such misinformation has poorly informed the public both about her relationship to Michael Jackson, and about her motives for having taken the matter to court. Her autobiographical series, Thriller, documents her life and gives her assessment on the state of affairs. Additionally, due to the fact that her aunt Diana Ross has declined to provide the press with comment regarding Michael Jackson since his death, Ms Jackson believes that crucial insights about the story are being concealed from the public. As a result of this, Ms Jackson was prompted to write the second instalment of her three-part autobiographical series, Thriller: The Dark side of the Netherlands, which focuses on her life in the Netherlands as well as the context surrounding the court case.

Bad (1987): And now, we get to the heavy hitters. Bad is one of the defining albums of my childhood – one of my earliest memories is “proving” to my parents that I knew every word of the title track by singing it at the dinner table. Equal parts rock, pop and soul, Bad may have suffered from the Thriller curse in the 80s – pundits recognized it was good, but not AS GOOD as one of the best albums ever made, always an unfair criticism – but the album’s cavalcade of hits, and its influence on pop and R&B at the time, cannot be denied. Bad may not have aged as well as some of MJ’s other top-shelf releases but that doesn’t make it any less groundbreaking. Forgotten Favorites: “Speed Demon,” “Just Good Friends,” “Another Part of Me”.

In this, the first of a three-part autobiography by Mocienne Petit Jackson, we meet the main character Mocienne. We read about her wonderful adventures from the age of six until the age of nine. She lived with her father – Michael Jackson! – in California. As he was not at home very often she was always in the company of a nanny. However, one nanny was continuously being replaced by the next. Mocienne was also often sick. Her father made an important decision and moved her to Haiti to go and live with an aunt -he wanted her to be part of a family. In time, she realised that her father was not like other fathers and that he was not who he claimed to be: a policeman. He would often visit her on Haiti when he was not busy with a performance. Her life on Haiti was not what she expected – a normal family life. She came into contact with some very kind people but also with others who were not so kind. She experienced many things which were not meant for a child of that age. We relive those experiences with her as she describes them through the eyes of a young and vulnerable little girl. After moving to Port-au-Prince, her life changes dramatically. Not long after that it became a complete nightmare. The Court did not rule it as being impossible, therefore, that Michael Jackson is the father of Mocienne Petit Jackson—merely that it is impossible to determine through legal means. Ms Jackson filed documents to the probate court in July 2010 in order to validate the fact that the late pop star Michael Jackson is indeed her father and thus to claim an inheritance. You maybe heard about the case of Mocienne Petit Jackson, called by the press the Michael Jackson’s secret daughter. What you probably didn’t know is the fact that Mocienne Petit Jackson is a fertile writer, with plenty of book available on Amazon and most of the other major book retailers. Contrary to the deduction that has been drawn by people of the international media, the L.A. County Superior Court did not throwout the case of Mocienne Petit Jackson in 2010 on the grounds of the case’s validity. Instead, the request to validate Ms Jackson’s claim using DNA evidence from the deceased Michael Jackson was not granted due to the fact that the State of California does not possess the jurisdiction to conduct DNA tests on the deceased. As a result, the case has remained open indefinitely.

But if you recall the release of his landmark records, you’ll remember his promotional magic. Everything from the time the first single hit radio stations to when the big video premiered, it was all something out of this world. Technically, that was always the most exciting aspect of a Jackson release. We loved the music, but we loved seeing what he’d do with it – namely his videos, which are arguably just as important as the music itself. (Hey, even Invincible had that delectable “You Rock My World” video.) They’ve tried to recreate that idea – what with the world premieres of tracks here and there – but it will never be the same. So, that leaves us with just the music.

My favorite song on Dangerous is “Remember the Time.” Like so many others on this album, it’s inextricable from its video, which also received the MJ treatment: simultaneous premieres on MTV, Fox and BET in February of 1992. Directed by John Singleton, it stars Eddie Murphy, Iman, the Pharcyde, Magic Johnson, Tiny Lister, and some adorable striped tabbies. It’s probably the only song from Dangerous that can still go off in any club on any given night. If nothing else, they display the full range of his sharply targeted social consciousness, one that encompassed environmentalism, the AIDS pandemic, and every other affliction that still plagues the globe. In that sense, Dangerous might be Jackson’s most complete album, spanning dance music to dark nights of the soul. It’s a portrait of a persecuted genius, desperate to stay relevant, burdened with guilt and rage, lashing out at villains and offering inspiration to allies—always making it seem effortless. The climb of a musician : Lucas Coast

Lucas Coast or the upsurge of a music producer? Lucas Coast is a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer born in Barranquilla, Colombia. His compositions incorporate urban, tropical, and contemporary sounds of Latin music. The singles “Conmigo”, “La Chica”, “Dame Tu Love”, & “Una Noche Mas” are now available for streaming on all platforms.

Luis Carlos Suarez Perez was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, surrounded by the great variety of musical influences of the 90s and early 00s. This exposure, increased his appreciation for music at an early age, and kept growing as he would explore new and more classic genres of music. In search of better opportunities, he moved with his family to Miami as a teenager. When he bought his first guitar, he began to improve significantly in his technique with online classes.

While attending college, playing instruments, writing songs, singing live for his friends was Lucas Coast biggest hobby. He formed a band with his musician friends at school, and they performed at various university events. Upon graduation, he had written over 100 drafts of song lyrics. Music production became his next step, while learning basic piano extended his musical growth. With an undergraduate degree in political science and a master’s degree in finance, he’s worked in his industry, while turning his passion for music into Lucas Coast. He took the name “Lucas” by combining his name “Luis Carlos Suarez”, and chose “Coast” as tribute to his musical identity forged by the Colombian and Miami coasts.

Seduction in “Conmigo” is the protagonist, its lyrics recreate the situations of a forbidden and toxic love. The song invites you to leave this type of relationship that damages love, the seduction ingredient in the lyrics makes this theme much deeper and reflects maturity. It also encourages reflection in those who identify or feel something for someone in a relationship that can be harmful. At the time of making this song, they were listening to various options for a new song, and when they combined urban percussions with influences from electronic music, they found the basis of rhythm. This is one of the productions in which Lucas has had creative freedom.

He created his independent label, “The Coast Records L.L.C.”, through which he has funded and managed his music project. Lucas has four singles available now on all digital platforms, with official videos available on YouTube: “Conmigo”, “La Chica”, “Dame Tu Love”, and “Una Noche Mas”. You can listen them here Lucas Coast Music.

Music licensing studio for films

TV music licensing recommendations? If you performed and recorded a cover version of an Ed Sheeran song, Ed (and his publisher) would still own the publishing rights for the song itself, but you would own the master rights for the recording. Because it’s his song you performed, but you recorded the cover version. To give you an example of how these work, if you write and record an original song all by yourself, you own 100% of the master and publishing rights for the song and the recording. Now we’ve got that down, let’s talk about copyright in context of sync. Your rights are what generate revenue for you in the world of Sync. Each time one of your songs is about to be placed, the licenser (music supervisor or client) needs your permission to ‘clear’ or authorise the use of the track. This includes both the recording (master), and the song (publishing).

Music supervisors, app developers, and producers will always gravitate towards clean, concise, organized pitches and EPKs. Be sure to have a place on your website, or an embed in your EPK that allows music supervisors to strum through your catalog quickly. It may even be smart to set up a microsite or a new EPK just for your work that you want to try and get licensed. Another huge part of your marketing that’s overlooked is the metadata. When you get to the point of sending MP3s out to licensing executives, make sure clear meta tags such as genre, year, publisher, and artist are embedded in your tracks. It makes supervisors’ lives a lot easier, as you’re helping them stay organized.

I earn monthly revenue from my Content ID. What is the benefit of turning it off to license my song? On average youtube monetization for 1000 youtube views ranges from 0.5 to 2 USD based on the location of viewers and the target audience. The numbers vary a lot, but most channels get 0.5 USD per 1000 views. It takes a significant amount of views to earn a substantially consistent monetary return. Essentially your music is working harder as opposed to working smarter. In comparison, our musicians are compensated at a more competitive rate for less work. Our payout for one of our most basic licenses pays at a rate that is 8.4% higher in comparison. Discover more information at music licensing for film.

Meet Themacj and some of his music

The growth of a young musician : Themacj: As a young child, Themacj would often be very hyperactive and cause a lot of trouble growing up. He would often beatbox around the household and rap the lyrics of famous rappers such as, “Eminem”, “50 Cent”, “Ludacris”, “Snoop Dog” & “Lil Wayne”. Themacj started to play a game called “Guitar Hero’’ which vastly improved his music abilities, he later then developed those skills into playing the drums. Going into his last year of high school, Themacj began to produce his own beats as he was starting to hoan his rapping skills, which turned into him mixing and mastering his own songs years later.

Toronto has become an epicenter of hip-hop ever since the 2010s began, and as the new decade begins a whole new number of artists are rising from the city to take center stage. Themacj is a twenty-four-year-old emcee who brings everything to the table that you would want to see from a technical aspect, and leaves nothing behind when it comes to the heart and soul of his records. Meet Hash Blink and some of his best songs

The ascent of a musician : Hash Blink? Like Eminem, Hash Blink often sees himself as an underdog in the hip hop game. While Eminem dealt with being white in Black dominated genre, Hash Blink knows how much hip hop is dominated by the Western World but also like Eminem, he plans on breaking down cultural barriers and thriving. He notes of the inspiration he found in his youth watching Eminem, “He gave me hope. Because I figured if this white man could stand the angry crowds then I too could do the same. He was called and told so many things, but he persisted and that is something I want to do.”

Hash Blink aka Thomas B. Sheriff is the new growing star in the Hip Hop music world, who got hit by the music bug at the young age of 13. Born and raised in Liberia, Western Africa, he didn’t realize his talent for singing-songwriting until the age of 15. Inspired by 50 Cent’s hit single “P.I.M.P.”, he inclined towards Hip Hop music and started writing songs, and jamming with friends in school. That was the moment when young Thomas started to see himself as Hash Blink.

Hash Blink has made a tough journey for his goals and discovered his true strength on the way. He believes in being brave and grabbing all the opportunities life throws at you. “I want to stick to my plans, make more good music, that buries the sadness, depression, stress, and turns them all into something positive so we can all grow and become whatever we want to be”, the artist adds further. Hash Blink is producing all of his music through his label but he is open to partnering with other labels if they give him creative freedom and the right push in the industry. Hash Blink’s music is available on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, and Pandora among others.

Hash Blink says that he found great inspiration from watching Eminem and listening to him when he was growing up. “Eminem gave me hope. Because I figured if this white man could stand the angry crowd, then I too could do the same.” Hash Blink knows that it takes hard work to manage to enter the rap territory. He is determined to work hard to get there. Ever since he started performing to his fans in Liberia, and ever since he set his foot in the United States some two years ago, the talented hip hop rapper has been working tirelessly towards realizing his musical goals.
